The Labour Act Mauritius Has Been Replaced

If you are still managing employees based on the Labour Act Mauritius, your business is operating under a law that no longer exists. In 2019, it was replaced by the Workers' Rights Act โ€” and the rules changed significantly.

Important: The Labour Act Mauritius was formally repealed in 2019. It no longer has any legal standing. All employment relationships in Mauritius are now governed exclusively by the Workers' Rights Act 2019 and its 2024 amendments.
What This Means

The Labour Act Mauritius No Longer Applies

For over four decades, the Labour Act Mauritius governed employment relationships across the island. Because it was enacted in 1975, it was designed for a very different era โ€” and over time it became increasingly inadequate for modern workplaces.

In 2019, the government replaced it entirely. The Workers' Rights Act 2019 consolidated the Labour Act and the Employment Rights Act 2008 into a single, more comprehensive law. As a result, every employer in Mauritius โ€” regardless of size or sector โ€” became subject to a new set of rules.

Therefore, if your employment contracts, HR policies, or payroll procedures still reference the Labour Act Mauritius, they need to be reviewed and updated to reflect the Workers' Rights Act 2019 immediately.

Why Workers' Rights Act Mauritius Training Matters Now

The Workers' Rights Act Mauritius 2019 transformed employment law across the island โ€” and it has continued to evolve since. Because the 2024 Finance Act introduced significant changes including the right to disconnect, extended parental leave, and new childcare obligations, many businesses are unknowingly non-compliant right now.

This Workers' Rights Act Mauritius course gives HR professionals, business owners, and managers a thorough, up-to-date understanding of the Act. As a result, participants leave with the confidence to apply the law correctly, avoid costly disputes, and build fairer workplaces.

In addition to theory, the course focuses on real-world application โ€” therefore you will work through case studies, employment contract templates, payslip requirements, and disciplinary procedures that reflect actual Mauritian workplace scenarios.

Furthermore, because compliance under the Workers' Rights Act Mauritius protects both sides of the employment relationship, this training covers the Act from both the employer's and employee's perspective โ€” a dual-lens approach that sets DNB's training apart from standard compliance courses.
